Meet the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, the new sporting hero of
the Cayenne range. Based on the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, the Turbo GT boasts
improved performance and handling whilst also stepping up to the plate as a
premium SUV that’s suitable for the everyday. Available exclusively in the
sleek Coupe body style, the Cayenne Turbo GT is just as easy on the eye as it
is powerful and thrilling to drive.
If the Cayenne Turbo GT is to follow in the footsteps of the Cayenne Turbo Coupe in terms of safety, you can expect a range of driver assistance technologies such as forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. The Porsche Composite Brake (PCCB) system is fitted as standard, offering sharp deceleration to match the Turbo GT’s power output.
The four-seater Coupe rides 17mm lower than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe and its front wheels are an inch wider, with black wheel arch extensions housing 22” GT Design wheels finished in gold or black. Up front, the aggressive GT-specific apron, spoiler lip and huge air intakes make for an intimidating presence. The contoured carbon roof accentuate the Cayenne Turbo GT’s sporty lines, whilst the extendable rear spoiler lip adds 40kg of downforce.
Inside, the Turbo GT is still very much a luxury SUV, but gives a subtle nod to racing through features like the multifunction sports steering wheel. The front sport seats have ‘turbo GT’ lettering on the headrests and are enhanced with gold or grey stitching and seatbelts for extra flair, whilst Alcantara accents throughout the interior hint at the performance focus – and the Turbo GT has the substance to back it up.
set a new SUV lap record at the Nurburgring with a time of just 7 minutes 38.9 seconds. How? The Turbo GT uses a modified four-litre twin-turbo V8 engine to achieve 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds (0.6 seconds quicker than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe), an output of 631bhp and 850Nm, and a limited top speed of 186mph.
Porsche has also introduced a faster-shifting eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission for the Cayenne Turbo GT and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system is fitted as standard. The sports exhaust system and central tailpipes are also unique to the Cayenne Turbo GT. In terms of tech, the SUV comes with the latest generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 6.0 system, which brings enhanced infotainment and is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Specifically designed for the Cayenne Turbo GT are the 22”
Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tyres and, as expected, four-wheel drive comes
as standard. Both the chassis and engine have been optimised for handling and
performance and you can choose from a range of driving modes, which seamlessly
adjusts the car’s response to match your desired driving style.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is the most driver-focused
model in the range, with intense performance and precise dynamics. Not only does
it effortlessly master the excitement of challenging cornering and final
sprints, but it also meets the mark as a luxury SUV that will gladly accompany
you on weekend adventures. It maintains all the elements that make the Cayenne
so classically Porsche, but combines this with track-ready performance,
thrilling dynamics and superior handling. The Cayenne Turbo GT balances sensational
power with Porsche-level sophistication – something you didn’t know you needed but
will fall in love with time and time again.
