DESIGN

The Panamera embodies Porsche’s trademark design, and this continues in the E-Hybrid models, with the Sports Saloon body style reminiscent of the 911 from many angles. The 4S E-Hybrid is also available as the handsome Sport Turismo, which offers a longer, higher, and straighter roofline for even greater practicality and an extra seat in the rear. Distinguishing features are acid green brake callipers and ‘e-hybrid’ badges, as well as the 20” Panamera Turbo wheels. A set of large twin tailpipes hints at the potency of the powertrain. Inside, luxury and comfort are maintained with 8-way electric comfort seats with memory function, smooth finish leather, and 403 litres of boot space, which extends to 1,242 litres with the rear seats folded.

PERFORMANCE

A 435bhp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine is paired with a 134bhp electric motor to provide a combined power in the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid of 569bhp and 750Nm of torque. This means the super saloon can get from 0 – 62mph in just 3.7 seconds and maxes out at 185mph. The added boost of electric power means maximum torque is available immediately for a ferocious standing start. A bigger 17.9kWh battery means you can expect to get 33 miles of range on electric power alone, at speeds of up to 87mph. Not only does the electric motor offer enhanced responsiveness, but it also makes the Panamera more efficient with a maximum economy of 128.4mpg. An 8-speed PDK gearbox distributes power to all four wheels, alongside Porsche Traction Management and adaptive air suspension.

TECHNOLOGY

Using a mode switch on the steering wheel, drivers can choose between a range of driving modes in the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid, including E-Power, Hybrid Auto, Sport, and Sport Plus. The first two utilise the car’s electric power for efficient and eco-friendly driving, whilst the latter two prime the engine and chassis for a more performance-focused approach. Much like the rest of the Panamera range, the instrument cluster is made up of two high-res displays and a central analogue rev counter, whilst a wide 12” touchscreen is fitted for the brand’s latest infotainment system. When setting a route on the sat nav, the car will let you know where to use electric power for maximum effect. Smartphone integration is also enabled with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

SAFETY

The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid is equipped with six-piston aluminium monobloc calipers at the front and four-piston equivalents at the rear, whilst Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are an option. It also comes as standard with LED main headlights and the Porsche Dynamic Light System. Other standard safety features include Porsche Stability Management, ParkAssist, Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist.
