New Porsche Boxster Spyder spotted during testing

An all-new Porsche Boxster Spyder has been spotted during testing, with the refreshed convertible car expected to be released at some stage in 2015.

With an ultra-lightweight body and bikini-style fabric soft-top roof, the new Spyder is likely to be powered by the same upgraded Boxster S engine. Based on the current 981 Boxster chassis, it is expected to have a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK transmission option and the power output could be in the range of 320bhp.

The refreshed 2015 version sees the electric folding roof replaced by a featherweight manually fitted top, meaning it should weigh about 80kg less, helping to enhance the acceleration and handling. Other clues from the testing photos suggest that the new Spyder will have an angled windscreen, larger brakes that have been influenced by the Carman and a stylish double-dome engine cover.
