Replacement tyres explained

In November 2012, a new, clearer labelling system was introduced to classify all new tyres on sale in the United Kingdom. Each label identifies the effectiveness of the tyres in three categories: fuel efficiency, wet braking and exterior noise emissions. The new labels look very similar to those used in classifying household appliances, ensuring that understanding each rating is simple.

In addition to your personal driving methods, your selection of tyres has a significant impact on the efficiency of your car. Each tyre is rated on an A-to-G scale using the new labelling – A-grade tyres could reduce your vehicle’s fuel consumption by up to 7.5 percent over G-grade equivalents.

Wet braking performance

In wetter conditions, braking and stopping distances are increased, and all motorists must adjust driving habits to maintain safety on the road. By using a full set of A-grade tyres, the stopping distance for your vehicle from 50mph can be reduced by up to 18 metres.

Exterior noise emissions

On the new labels, the noise levels of each tyre are provided in decibels. The distractions of outside noise can be detrimental to you and your passengers, and the range of tyres that we offer allows you to enjoy a smoother and quieter motoring experience without affecting the performance of your car.
