Expected to grace showrooms in 2017, Škoda’s new crossover is on the way. A spokesperson confirmed that the coupe-SUV will showcase the brand’s trademark reliability, offering “class-leading space, value and quality”.
The newcomer is as yet unnamed and will be in direct competition with the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe. With a sleek, sculpted exterior and market-leading safety and infotainment technologies likely to feature, the new Škoda signals a shift by the manufacturer to produce more upmarket models.
While the handling is expected to be optimised for on-road performance, the underbody protection and high ground clearance should ensure that the coupe-SUV has good off-road capability. We anticipate that the new model will be available with two or four-wheel drive.
The new coupe-SUV will form part of a four-strong crossover range due to be revealed by Škoda in the next few months. Building on the recent success of models such as the Yeti, Škoda are starting to expand their range to appeal to a wider audience.
