The all new Toyota GR Yaris is anything but ordinary, you won’t have seen a Yaris like it; it’s a lightweight, powerful, four-wheel drive handmade machine developed with the experts at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team.
The new GR Yaris with its genuine rally DNA makes everyday driving thrilling, this high-revving 1.6-litre turbocharged powerplant has 257bhp and 360Nm torque capable of 0-62mph in 5.5seconds.
This is no normal hot hatch, being handmade by experts means that each GR Yaris is built with meticulous care and attention, focusing on three key performance-enhancing areas of aerodynamics, weight and weight distribution.
The fresh design has great stance and so much attitude built on a special four-wheel drive version of Toyota’s TNGA architecture, the new Yaris GR is ready to win on the fast rally tracks and respond exceptionally on the roads.
Developed directly from world rally activity with Tommi Mäkinen Racing, safety was always an important factor to building this anything but ordinary hot-hatch.
The GR Yaris comes with driver and passenger front and side air bags, an immobiliser, ABS, Brake Assist, Lane Trace Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, a reversing camera, Adaptive High Beam, LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lights, LED adaptive headlights, rear fog lights, ISOFIX child restraint system, and eCall emergency call system.
Part-Yaris, part-rally car, this four-wheel-drive pocket rocket Toyota promises to handle well for you on the road or track.
Styled for success, the new GR Yaris has an entirely different design compared to the Yaris we are used to; with reworked bodywork to aid aerodynamics, a fresh three-door lightweight aluminium bodyshell, and a forged carbonfibre lower roof designed to cut through the air. It also features auto-retractable door mirrors, auto wipers, auto headlights with follow-me-home function, automatic headlight cut-off, smart entry and push-button start, GR lower grille, black rear spoiler, and privacy glass on the rear and back windows.
This rally-inspired Toyota features lightweight components and performance parts. It sits low on reinforced GR suspension mounts, and it also includes a substantially wider rear track than the regular Yaris.
The standard model comes equipped with 18inch alloy wheels, dual-exit exhaust pipes, a leather steering wheel and GR Ultrasuede sports seats. If you go for the hardcore Circuit Pack model designed for drivers who want the ultimate experience in handling, this boasts even more enhanced dynamics adding a pair of limited-slip differentials, red brake callipers, tuned GR circuit suspension and sticky Michelin Pilot sports tyres.
The all new Toyota GR Yaris brings motorsport technology and design directly to the driver making it rewarding and fun to drive. With features like smart entry, active noise control, adaptive LED lights, and a reversing camera, this new model showcases everything you’d need and more where ever you take it.
On the comfort specification model you get dual-zone automatic air conditioning, electro chromatic auto-dimming rear-view mirror, colour TFT information display, power steering, and a manual tilt and slide steering wheel.
The multi-media system gives you DAB radio, an eight-inch multimedia screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multimedia controls on the steering wheel, six speakers, a USB connector, and microphone on the front personal interior light. The new GR Yaris has all the credentials inside and out for competition success as a super-hot hatch for the road.
Engineered and designed as a pure performance car delivering exceptional levels of traction and control, the new GR Yaris is not your usual hot hatch. It has a top speed of 143mph and with 257bhp it has some serious horsepower to boot.
Born from WRC, it has a six-speed manual gearbox and incorporates advanced high-performance technology including GR-FOUR; Toyotas sports AWD system which usually sends 60 per cent of power to the front wheels, and 40 to the back. However, this GR Yaris is built to thrill, pop it into sports mode and you get 30 per cent of power upfront and 70 to the back. Or, for maximum rally response if you want to test it out on track or on slippery surfaces, shift it into track mode and it will split the power 50/50.
Developed to be compact, as light as possible, and for drivers who want ultimate handling and precision, the new GR Yaris will deliver exhilarating performance enabling it to succeed on every surface.
