Working tirelessly across the UK, Whizz-Kidz charity supports disabled children to live life to the full. As the chosen charity supported by the Jardine Motors Group, Lancaster Toyota Colchester has been working towards a fundraising goal for 2016.
Just as the Jardine Motors Group provides mobility across the country through its network of vehicle dealerships, Whizz-Kidz offer mobility to young disabled people by helping them to become more active and independent as they grow up.
We’re now in July, and Lancaster Toyota Colchester has already reached its 2016 fundraising target for Whizz-Kidz! The team has raised a total of £2,580, and every penny will go to Whizz-Kidz’s great endeavours.
So, how did they do it?
A recent Lionel Richie concert at Colchester Football Stadium saw the Centre offer its car park out, raising £410 in just one night.
But the big money came from a renovated Toyota MR2. This UK-supplied 1993 L MR2GT was sold at a charity auction, making an amazing £2,170!
It features a completely original specification, with the same audio system, removable sunroof and removable sunshade that it was sold with. This MR2 can speed from 0 – 60mph in 7.7 seconds up to 137mph, using its punchy 156bhp.
Having travelled 109,078 miles with one owner, the team at Lancaster Toyota Colchester carried out an MOT test on the Zircon Blue MR2, refurbished the wheels and prepared the brakes.
23 years on, the original technician who carried out the Pre-Delivery Inspection and the salesman who sold the MR2 to Mr Mowles are still working together in the very same Toyota Centre!
How much more can the team raise this year? Keep an eye out for future fundraising events at Lancaster Toyota Colchester, as your support is always appreciated.
