This month, Toyota has announced the launch of Toyota Connected Inc., a new enterprise that will allow the brand to broaden its focus on software and data-driven mobility through data management and data services development.
Toyota Connected will support numerous consumer, business and government-facing initiatives, serving as a data science hub for the marque’s global operations.
Toyota’s global vision is for clean, safe and convenient future mobility, and the launch of this new initiative builds on this. Through Microsoft’s Azure cloud technology, Toyota will push technology into the background as it develops predictive, contextual and intuitive services to improve the driving experience.
Toyota Connected is being launched with the delivery of seamless and contextual services as well as the use of cutting-edge data analytics to support product development for everyone involved with the business, from customers and dealers to distributors and partners.
Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Connected and Chief Information Officer at Toyota Motor North America, Zack Hicks, said: ‘Toyota Connected will help free our customers from the tyranny of technology. It will make lives easier and help us to return to our humanity. From telematics services that learn from your habits and preferences, to use-based insurance pricing models that respond to actual driving patterns, to connected vehicle networks that can share road condition and traffic information, our goal is to deliver services that make lives easier.’
Toyota Connected Inc. will consolidate Toyota initiatives in data centre management, data analytics and data-driven services development all the way from Plano, Texas.
