The factory has released its first sketches of the California 6.1. They come just a few months after the Caravelle 6.1 made its world premiere and the unveiling of the Transporter 6.1.

Compared to the current model, the California 6.1 will have an enhanced interior, better connectivity, more safety systems and a completely redesigned front end with sharper styling.

The multi-functional camper control unit in the roof console is being redesigned and digitalised, and a new generation of infotainment with integrated eSIM opens up a world of mobile online services. A digital cockpit will also be available for the first time on the California.

Like the Caravelle 6.1 revealed earlier this year, the California 6.1 features electro-mechanical power steering. It also gains numerous optional assistance systems for the first time, including lane assist, side protection and trailer assist, which makes light work of manoeuvring with a trailer. In addition, a side-wind compensation system makes travelling in the California 6.1 even safer.

The California 6.1 will be launched with a range of highly efficient 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines with power outputs up to 199PS, and is set to make its world premiere at the end of August at the Caravan-Salon in Düsseldorf.
