Volkswagen’s Amarok pick-up range has been expanded with the reveal of a new Atacama special edition model.
The new arrival will help the model remain competitive against the likes of the Ford Ranger, and offers buyers a raft of styling changes plus plenty of added kit. To the body the German firm has fitted sporty Atacama decals, black rear styling bars to match the revised bumper and 19-inch ‘Cantera’ alloy wheels. The front gets Bi-Xenon headlamps for optimum visibility, while the load bed is finished with a protective coating. Three paint options are offered: black, blue and white.
Inside the pick-up is soft-touch leather upholstery to add luxury to this highly functional vehicle. Meanwhile, the standard equipment list receives a boost with the arrival of Bluetooth, satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control and a multi-function steering wheel.
Under the bonnet sits Volkswagen’s 179PS 2.0-litre BiTDI diesel engine which couples with six-speed manual transmission and selectable four-wheel drive or an eight-speed box with permanent four-wheel drive. Either unit will carry the model and a full load bed confidently in any environment. With the styling and equipment enhancements on top of this, the manufacturer can expect interest from both private and business motorists who demand strong performance alongside the latest features.
