Whizzy will ride again - With the help of Lancaster Volkswagen
Whizz-Kidz, a charity which provides mobility equipment for disabled children, has long received a great deal of support from Jardine Motors Group. Our most recent effort on behalf of the Whizz-Kidz charity has been to raise money through restoring a classic Volkswagen camper van and putting it up for auction, where all money raised will be going towards the great work that Whizz-Kidz do.
The model chosen by Lancaster Volkswagen for the project was a Dry State California edition from 1972. Much to the surprise and delight of the technicians charged with reviving this venerable machine, it also proved to be completely free of rust. Each of the seven Lancaster Volkswagen dealerships in Aylesbury, Harlow, Letchworth, Loughton, Milton Keynes, St. Albans and Towcester shall play their part in restoring the old Type II to its former glory.
A brand-new engine will be added, along with a revamped transmission, brakes and suspension. The worn interior and roof canvas are also to be replaced, whilst a new baby blue paint job with Snowberry White detailing will ensure that the lucky buyer will enjoy a camper van that combines classic looks with contemporary performance.
Whizzy (like all camper vans, a pet name was necessary) is set to be put up for auction towards the end of the summer. Keep returning to the Jardine Motors Group news section for further details about the restoration, or our Facebook pages where we will be posting regular updates.
