The BMW i3's light but incredibly strong Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) cabin provides outstanding protection for you and your passengers. Active safety systems also play a significant role. The optional Driving Assistant Plus package makes use of cameras and sensors to offer advanced warning of potential hazards, while automatic proactive braking can help to avoid or at least reduce the impact of a collision.
Optional Park Assist technology makes guiding the i3 into tight parking spaces quick, safe and simple, the rear-view camera helping to eliminate blind spots.
A single glance tells you that this is no ordinary electric vehicle. Dynamic exterior styling and flowing contours give the BMW i3 an agile and athletic feel, its numerous aerodynamic features adding to the stylish and modern look.
Compact proportions guarantee outstanding maneuverability, especially in urban environments where the need to squeeze into tight parking spaces and down narrow streets is a daily reality. Its sizeable 19-inch alloy wheels not only help the car to stand out, they also reduce the rolling resistance to deliver an even more efficient package.
Inside there is a spacious passenger compartment, partly thanks to the upright roof pillars, ensuring the i3 remains practical for everyday motoring.
Access is made simple thanks to the coach doors and large opening via the tailgate.
The car's rear seats fold to create additional loadspace. Personalising the i3 is simple thanks to the range of colour schemes and interior finishes available.
Powering the BMW i3 is a lithium-ion high-voltage battery, stored safely under the vehicle's floor. Combined with the agile electric motor, the model is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in less than 7.2 seconds. Its aluminium chassis and low centre of gravity help to propel it forward with breathtaking speed.
The car's battery typically needs to be recharged every two to three days, and a range of up to 100 miles is achievable when the car is switched to the standard COMFORT driving mode.
The Range Extender option sees a small combustion engine and a 9.0-litre fuel tank fitted to the i3. This will increase the vehicle's potential range to about 186 miles. Charging the car is fast and convenient, especially at rapid charging facilities where the battery can be topped up to 80 per cent in less than 30 minutes.
Thanks to the BMW i3's navigation system it's easy to stay up-to-date on the maximum distance the vehicle is capable of travelling, via the car's 5.5-inch display. Details of the battery's charge status and the location of any nearby charging stations are also provided.
