DESIGN

The BMW XM has a characteristically distinctive design which works to effortlessly express both its presence and performance. The exterior of the car has the proportions of a modern SAV, dramatic lines and an elongated shape, all while remaining true to the M DNA. While it looks at home as part of the M family, it is a revised version that offers a fresh and powerful aesthetic specifically designed for the luxury end of the BMW product line up. Moving to the front end of the car, the first ever BMW XM sports split front lights which work to separate the daytime driving lights and the indicator lights, with the functional Adaptive LED headlights. Within the interior, the BMW XM exhibits a cockpit that is centred around the driver, with touches of luxury from the M Lounge towards the rear. The whole interior design is focussed on providing an active and exhilarating driving experience. But, BMW have evidently considered the passengers too when developing the interior design of this car. The exclusive M Lounge allows for a substantial feeling of space and the use of high-quality materials gives a luxurious and comfortable passenger experience. Every small detail has been calculated, from the heated backrests to the specifically designed cushions for passengers to enjoy the most luxurious of journeys. The unique headliner is an amazing design statement, with its three-dimensional prism structure, photo mount-style border and 100 LED units for illumination. But none of this means the owner of the car will have to forgo their personal touches, there’s a choice of four different trims for customising the interior to taste.

TECHNOLOGY

Drivers will find M-specific display concepts delivered through the BMW Operating System 8 in this model. This features multifunctional tool displays located in the cockpit that changes depending on driving environments. It will switch between three different settings, Sport, Road or Track and will automatically highlight the relevant style that the driver preferers for specific driving requirements. The information display comprises of a large, single screen (BMW Curved Display) that offers the driver relevant information concisely. The use of this screen is both intuitive and dynamic, with touch capability and a stylish integration within the dashboard meaning this infotainment system is as beautiful as it is practical. Moving on to M Setup, a programme that allows you to tailor the driving experience to suit your specific driving wants and needs. This allows a whole new level of personalisation when it comes to your different driving styles, the drive, running gear, steering, brakes, energy recover, and the all-wheel drive system can all be adapted to your preferences. The BMW XM boasts the largest selection of driver assistance systems offered – either as standard or as an option – for any high-performance vehicle from BMW M GmbH. Parking Assistant Plus is included as standard. In addition to the Reversing Assistant this system comprises the functions Parking View, front and rear Panorama View and 3D View. Ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and the Travel & Comfort System are all standard features of the BMW XM. The options list includes the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with 1,500-watt amplifier and four additional speakers in the roof area.

SAFETY

The BMW XM provides you with all the safety and security you would expect from such a strong structure. Today, safety systems are increasingly sophisticated and focus on the avoidance of accidents rather than protection when they do happen. Front collision warning, lane departure warning, evasion assistant, alertness assistant and a speed limit warning system are just a few of the safety systems that come as standard in the BMW XM. In addition, you will of course find the more basic safety features such as 6 Airbags (Driver, Front Passenger, 2 Curtain, Driver Side, Front Passenger Side).

FEATURES

The BMW XM comes as standard with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which brings with it an M-specific version of the latest-generation multi-sensory vehicle experience BMW iDrive. The new display grouping and the ever-expanding capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant mean the new BMW iDrive has been deliberately geared towards touch operation and gesture control as well as dialogue using natural language. The iDrive Controller and multifunction buttons on the steering wheel are additionally joined in the standard specification roster by the BMW Head-Up Display and BMW gesture control. Multifunction seats, knee pads and a model-specific M leather steering wheel, along with M-specific graphics including shift lights for the BMW Curved Display and BMW Head-Up Display are all part of the standard specification for the XM.
