The Superveloce, or SV for short, most definitely lives up to its name.
With a name literally (and aptly) translated from Italian as ‘super-fast’, the SV offers a full-throttle driving experience of rare power and speed.
It is as close to an authentic race car, as is possible, to drive on public roads.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) uses sensors that measure the progress of the car and the driver’s intentions. ESP controls the brakes, engine and transmission – although not necessarily all at the same time – to ensure that the car turns as intended, even at high speeds. Anti-Lock Braking System prevents the wheels from locking, so that they can be turned when needed. Airbags offer extra protection to both driver and passenger and are carefully positioned around the cabin.
The SV 750-4 is 50kg lighter than the LP 700-4 and weighs only 1,525kg. The body and chassis have been made from carbon fibre and aluminium in order to reduce the total mass. This has enabled the car to achieve its current level of rapidity and aerodynamic prowess. Downforce is generated thanks to a large wing and huge rear diffuser. The front skirt and wings have been overhauled, and front intakes have been expanded in order to keep the engines and brakes cool. Black Dione forged 20-inch wheels at the front, and 21-inch wheels at the rear, provide the SV with an assertive stance.
One of two winged doors provides access to the cockpit, which contains sports bucket seats, both offering protection and comfort. The lightest materials have been used in the construction of the cabin, but not at the expense of safety, with carbon fibre, again an important component. Lamborghini has aimed to make the SV as fast and secure as possible and to this end it does not contain, for example, leather upholstery or carpets. Any unnecessary elements have been vetoed for the vehicle to be capable of optimal performance.
The SV is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine, which produces 750bhp at 8,400rpm and 690Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.
The car races from 0-60mph in under three seconds, before achieving a top speed of 217mph.
Rapid and smooth gear changes are possible thanks to seven-speed ISR transmission.
Depending on your speed and which drive mode you have selected (Strada, Sport or Corsa), Lamborghini Dynamic Steering ensures that the SV reacts accordingly.
This means that the car remains consistently manoeuvrable and precise, whether travelling at low or high speeds.
