Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

It’s no coincidence that the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 shares its name with a bull.

Muscularity, confidence and ferocity are all epitomised in its inimitable design, both visible and concealed.

The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 can be discovered in more detail and taken for a test drive at Jardine Motors Group in Sevenoaks today.

The Aventador LP 700-4 may be an unashamedly aggressive animal, but it's still assuredly reliable and controlled where it needs to be.

Complementing the rigidity of the central cell are the latest electronic safety systems.

The adjustable ESP system enables a fully-supported drive; the airbags in the front, knee and head-thorax areas, meanwhile, ensure everyone is protected from all angles. You'd expect nothing less from a truly exceptional Lamborghini.

One facet of Lamborghini's design philosophy is that it must be instantly recognisable – so it's no surprise that the Aventador LP 700-4 stays in the mind long after the first look. Its profile and poise exude power, with hard corners and edges tapering to sharp points. In all aspects, this is a model that cuts through with unapologetic fierceness. There's even an optional transparent engine cover to open up the masterful engineering to the world. Both doors open upwards to arch above the Aventador LP 700-4's low roofline, while the dominating alloy wheels add to the near-crystalline inspiration of the supercar's detailing. A little further back are the dramatic side vents – electronically managed, these air intakes respond to the ambient temperature and facilitate engine cooling whilst ensuring the car is as aerodynamic and efficient as possible.

One of the most advanced features of the Aventador LP 700-4 is the passenger cell – hewn from a single carbon-fibre component, it ensures strength and stiffness that not only improves safety but ensures the car’s handling and responses are some of the best on the road. Despite these credentials, it still weighs just 229.5kg.

Similarly as light is the V12 engine, which combines 509lbs/ft of torque at 5,500rpm with 700hp at 8,250rpm. Thanks to a flat torque curve, power is available in abundance, regardless of the rev range. Keeping this power in check are advanced Independent Shifting Rods (ISR) that deliver smooth and swift gear changes with their light, compact design.
