Lamborghini will celebrate the brand’s past and present at this year’s Salon Privé supercar show with a stunning selection of cars. It will also give the new limited edition Centenario its first UK outing.
Lamborghini will attend Salon Privé from 1st to 3rd September, with activities including Miura and Diablo celebrations, the Centenario debut and supercar test drives.
The Lamborghini Centenario will be revealed for the first time in the UK at this year’s Salon Privé. It has been built to honour the 100th birthday of the carmaker’s founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini.
The limited edition car combines a lightweight carbon fibre tub with Lamborghini’s most powerful ever V12 engine. It’s capable of 759 bhp and can go from 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 217 mph.
The Centenario has a very limited production number, with just 20 coupés and 20 roadster versions in total. All models have already sold, with a price tag close to $2m (£1.7m).
Lamborghini has said that the car reflects Ferruccio Lamborghini’s passion for high performance without compromise.
Lamborghini PoloStorico, the brand’s heritage division, will also be celebrating the Miura’s 50th anniversary at Salon Privé. The iconic design is universally regarded as the first-ever supercar.
The anniversary will be marked with a concours display, as ten of the world’s best examples entered into a Miura-only category on the prestigious Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance. Two of the models are coming over from the USA to compete.
The PoloStorico divison will also display the iconic and one-off production Lamborghini Miura Roadster, which will take pride of place at Salon Privé on the lawns of Blenheim Palace.
Visitors will also be able to see the original Miura SV that was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971. The unique pre-production model has been recently restored by Polostorico, and was originally built with parts of the Miura S. It went on to incorporate pioneering features that were later used in SVs.
There will also be a Lamborghini Diablo tribute, with a Diablo-only class in the Pirelli-backed Prestige and Performance competition. Ten Diablo models will race the concours. One of them is the first-built vehicle of 31 racing versions produced, complete with the chassis number 001 SVR.
Also in the running is a VT Roadster, a limited-edition SE30 30th anniversary model and a 2000 6.0 litre VT Final Edition.
The Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance is a supercar show and garden party held in the grounds of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. It runs from Thursday 1 September to Saturday 3 September 2016. Tickets are on sale now from their website.
