The 2 Series Active Tourer combines the style of a sporty hatchback with the space and versatility of a 5-seat family tourer. Slim LED headlights (Adaptive LED on M Sport models) flank the assertive new BMW grille at the front, while the rising shoulder line and stretched side-window graphic gives it a coupé-like profile. Neat touches include flush-fitting door handles and a tidy-looking rear end that tucks the exhaust out of view.
PERFORMANCE
Two petrol engines are offered, the 220i with 168bhp from a 1.5-litre three-cylinder motor, and the 223i 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit developing 215bhp. The 220i delivers up to 47.9mpg while its more powerful sibling manages a respectable 47.1mpg. There’s one diesel model, the 218d, powered by a torquey 2.0-litre four that achieves 58.9mpg. Two new plug-in hybrid models arrive in Summer 2022 and you’ll find them profiled separately on our website. All models feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
TECHNOLOGY
The new 2 Series Active Tourer features a completely revised interior, offering both more space and an updated infotainment system. All models feature the new BMW Curved Display in a single sweep from driver instrumentation to central touchscreen. The eighth generation BMW iDrive operating system includes BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with natural language voice commands. Real-time traffic information and effortless synching with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while a full colour head-up display is among the many options.
SAFETY
Standard driver assistance systems include Active Guard, featuring Lane Departure Warning with active return to the lane, Speed Limit Info, manual Speed Limit Assist and front collision warning. The Parking Assistant includes a rear-view camera and automatic braking to save your bodywork from minor dings and scuffs.
