BMW iX3 M Sport 2022

DESIGN

The iX3 M Sport is given a new lease of life with a refreshed exterior inspired by the BMW iX and i4 models. The result? The iX3 looks and feels sportier than ever. It sits upon 19” aerodynamic alloy wheels, and the updated front bumper features a slightly larger BMW i kidney grille wrapped in a Pearl-effect chrome with blue accents. The new L-shaped air intakes and diffusers are also blue, hinting at the iX3’s electric powertrain. Slimmer headlights create the illusion of a sharper front-end, whilst the LED rear lights are emphasised with a black surround. As standard the car now comes equipped with the M Sport package, including an M leather steering wheel, high gloss ‘Shadow Line’ trim, and illuminated door sills. Sports seats in Vernasca leather take comfort levels up a gear, and a panoramic glass sunroof also comes as standard, making the interior feel even more spacious.

PERFORMANCE

The 5th Generation BMW eDrive can be found within the BMW iX3 M Sport, which brings the electric motor, electronic systems and transmission into one central unit to reduce space and weight while maximising Efficient Dynamics; improving the power to weight ratio by roughly 30%. As a result of the eDrive technology and a 150kw charging capacity, the BMW iX3 delivers a range of up to 279 miles. What’s more, using high-powered charging stations, the high-voltage battery can be charged up to a level of 80% in approximately 30 minutes. The BMW iX3 M Sport goes from 0 to 62mph in 6.8 seconds and, thanks to the constant and instant acceleration, the impressive eDrive unit delivers 286hp.

TECHNOLOGY

Available as standard on the BMW iX3 M Sport Pro model, the latest BMW Iconic Sounds Electric has been designed in collaboration with Hans Zimmer to deliver various driving manoeuvres with immediate acoustic feedback, both internally for passengers and externally for pedestrians. Redesigned for the iX3, the 20” Aerowheels are 15% lighter and boast 5% less drag than previous aerodynamic BMW wheels. Aiding a smooth journey no matter the nature, adaptive suspension allows the driver to adjust the damper characteristics to suit any given situation with a choice of comfort setting or sport programmes. Connectivity features include the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay Preparation and Android Auto. As well as this, the Connected Charging Digital service points the driver to the nearest public charging stations.

SAFETY

The BMW Driving Assistant Professional is included as standard, as well as Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function. Parking Assistant Plus is available with the BMW iX3 M Sport Pro, which offers a rear-view camera, Active Park Distance Control, Parking and Reversing Assistant, Surround View System with Remote 3D View, and the new Driver Recorder feature. Driving Assistant Professional adds an extra layer of intelligence to driving, as well as Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Emergency Stop Assistant, Active Cruise Control and Automatic Speed Assist. A handy addition, Assisted Driving View provides the driver with a clearer understanding of their surroundings and nearby traffic by using an animated 3D display in the instrument cluster. What’s more, the BMW iX3’s brake regeneration system is linked to the satnav and driver assistance systems to adapt to the road situation. For example, it will automatically slow the car down when the driver approaches a junction. However, this can be overridden by using the accelerator or brake pedal at any time.
