M4 Competition Coupe 2022

DESIGN

A stripped back and frameless kidney grille, new horizontal double-bar design and a heavily contoured bonnet gives the front profile of the M4 Competition a raw and sporty presence. Drivers can choose between a range of four new BMW M paint trims, including the Isle of Man Green, Sao Paulo Yellow, Skyscraper Grey and Brooklyn Grey, as well as the classic BMW colours. This boldness is complemented by the carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof, distinguished high-gloss black runner boards beneath the doors, Extended LED Headlights with Shadowline effect and the new choice of colour for brake callipers – Red, Blue or Black. Staying true to its coupé genes, the M4 Competition showcases a muscular yet streamlined silhouette. With 19” (front) and 20” (rear) combination wheels to improve handling, the imposing stance gives the impression of leaning in. This is embellished with signature M features, available in High-Gloss Black or Carbon in the Carbon Package. At the rear there’s a carbon lip spoiler on the tailgate, plus a widened rear diffuser encompassing four 100mm-wide exhaust pipes. Carbon Fibre trims found on interior details such as the gear selector, gear-shift paddles and the dashboard are available as standard for a renowned BMW M feel. As well as this, electric M Seats in Merino leather with the embedded M logo come as standard, or drivers can opt for the M Carbon bucket seats as an extra.

PERFORMANCE

Featuring a new BMW M Auto Gear Box and track-inspired lightweight BMW M components, the BMW M4 Competition delivers 510hp and 650Nm of torque. The model hosts a 3.0 litre straight-six-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine, which comes with two turbocharges and the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drive logic as standard. The result? A speed of 0 to 62mph in only 3.9 seconds. The M4 Competition has a limited top speed of 155mph, but this can be upped to 180mph if the driver specs the optional M Pro Package. Combined with the Active M Differential and other new track-inspired technologies, powerful performance is a given. As a two-rear-wheel drive (with a four-wheel drive model coming soon), precision handling will no doubt satisfy the high expectations of BMW fans.
