BMW 330e and 225xe launch

BMW unveiled both the 330e Saloon and 225xe Active Tourer at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show – and these electrifying plug-in hybrid models have now been launched and are ready to shock your senses.

Experience the epitome of pioneering mobility with BMW eDrive technology, found in both of these innovative models, which includes numerous advanced plug-in hybrid components that combine to improve both economy and emissions.

Virtually silent in electric mode, these electric BMW creations guarantee sustainable, low-emissions driving, combined with a dynamic ride, everyday practicality and exciting agility.

The five-seater, five-door 225xe features a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine to power the front wheels and BMW eDrive, which uses an electric motor, to drive the rear wheels. The versatile 225xe is therefore able to offer both an electric driving experience and unlimited mobility, as well as optimum traction thanks to the electrical xDrive system. Accelerate to 62mph from a standing start in just 6.7 seconds, all the way up to 126mph, plus benefit from CO2 emissions of just 46g/km. With pure electric power, drive for up to 25 miles and reach speeds of up to 77mph.

The BMW 330e Saloon’s 181bhp plug-in hybrid system comprises a TwinPower 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with synchronous electric motor and eight-speed transmission –it’s powerful enough to propel the 330e from 0 – 62mph in 6.1 seconds, up to its 140mph top speed. The dedicated rear-wheel drive vehicle emits just 44g/km CO2, plus it’s able to deliver 25 miles of emission-free motoring, all the way up to a top electric speed of 75mph.
