BMW are becoming leaders in technology with their newest innovation; an intelligent system that can tell you how long it will take to travel regular routes in current traffic conditions, and that will even text you when you should leave, ensuring you’ll never have an excuse for being late again.
In August, BMW rolled out its existing ConnectedDriveCloud information application to existing and new customers across Europe. This completely free service – including the SIM card – brings together functions such as Wi-Fi Hotspot, vehicle condition displays on your mobile phone, live traffic congestion, real-time journey times and learning software for the first time to create one intelligent service ready to revolutionise the way you travel.

Andy Furse, BMW UK’s technology product manager, says: ‘There are between 300,000 and 350,000 cars on the road capable of using the system, and 500,000 are already connected with an active SIM card.
‘For rival services, by the time you get in the car, it will be too late. And you won’t need to tell BMW about your normal journeys; it learns day to day and after two or three times, it will become regular. And, as soon as you get into the car, your phone will pair with the system. It’s a suite of technologies, and it does take us ahead of the opposition, by learning, by giving you information before you leave with its seamless integration.’
The information will even be able to transfer between BMW models that use ConnnectedDrive, so you don’t need to go through the trouble of re-teaching a new car all of your routines. If that doesn’t sound like the future, we don’t know what does.
