Jardine Motors Group makes social mobility pledge

In building its inclusion strategy, Jardine Motors Group has partnered with the Social Mobility Pledge in a commitment to improving social mobility and closing the growing opportunity gap.

The Social Mobility Pledge is the largest business campaign of its kind, as it encourages organisations to be a force for good by putting social mobility at the heart of their purpose. Chaired by Rt Hon Justine Greening, drawing on her experience as the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women & Equalities, the pledge is a coalition of more than 450 businesses globally to improve, share and demonstrate their commitment to social mobility best practice.

Why pledge?
Jardine Motors Group believes it has a responsibility to both colleagues and the wider society to use its resources and knowledge to help close the widening opportunity gap, while using its reputation as an industry innovator to inspire others to do the same.

The mission statement at Jardine Motors Group is ‘to be the best motor retailer as judged by you’, and that includes the company ethics and values that lie at the heart of the business. As a responsible employer, the company believes that helping to close the social mobility gap – which is only widening due to the Coronavirus pandemic – is not only the right step to take, but the necessary one.

While Jardine Motors Group has already put in place measures that will act as the building blocks of this journey, such as its partnerships with Speakers4Schools, Whizz-Kids and the Armed Forces Transition Partnership, it will strive to ensure that its coalition with the Social Mobility Pledge will broaden these initiatives and help to build upon them in a way that helps all.

By making this pledge, Jardine Motors Group hopes to take an industry pioneering shift towards being a truly purpose-led organisation devoted to social mobility through outreach, access and recruitment.
