Jardine have been working with the College work experience team since September 2016, when we asked the group to come and talk to students regarding work experience and employment with the Jardine Motor Group. This interesting and stimulating presentation enthused the students and enlightened them as to the type of work that they could undertake within the industry and the potential opportunities available to them within the Group. This was followed up with a number of students undertaking a short one week work experience placement at Audi/VW and BMW.
The College and Jardine have continued to work closely together to support each other – the College to provide meaningful and high quality students and for Jardine to support the growth of a talent pipeline within the group. This academic year the College and Jardine have worked in partnership to introduce ‘Industry Placements’, longer work experience placements for two days per week during the academic year in readiness for the introduction of T-Levels qualifications.
Jardine have been a flagship employer in supporting the development of our motor vehicle repair students’ skills and knowledge by providing a comprehensive and through training programme which has enabled them to develop their practical skills, grow in confidence, gain more knowledge and most importantly become more mature and work ready.
From initial presentations to students at the beginning of the academic year, the Jardine team led by Chris Cuthbert have been paramount in setting work related expectations, professional behaviours and supported the development of work readiness activities though the sponsored ‘work ready’ portal. The potential progression to a job offer on the Development Technician programme has been motivating and inspiring, encouraging students to work hard and achieve well both at the College and on placement.
Our motor vehicle repair students all inspire to be offered a place undertaking their work experience or an Industry Placement with Jardine Motor Group, appreciate the amazing opportunity it offers them in gaining valuable experience and working with leading car brands. Students when on placement with you feel supported and valued, feedback is consistent that they find the quality of training is excellent and that they have supportive and enthusiastic mentors who are keen and willing to share their skills and knowledge with them.
