Celebrating 70 years of Gran Turismo, Maserati’s release of the GranCabrio MC is a truly stunning interpretation of the ‘grand tourer’. The new Maserati four-seat convertible is unprecedented, and the GranCabrio MC marks the first Maserati cabriolet with the capabilities of accommodating four adult: after all, a tour is not a tour with any less than four!
If you were wondering what the MC stands for, it’s Maserati code for ‘Maserati Corsa’- so if you feel like the standard GranCabrio is simply not enough car for you, then this is it. The GranCabrio MC is the most commanding Maserati convertible in the model line-up, complimented by provocative Italian design and a luxurious specification.
The GranCabrio MC benefits from new lower air ducts, coupled with the ‘sharknose’ grille advancing the airflow distribution and minimalising aerodynamic drag. The model incorporates the six-speed ZF transmission enhancing the in-drive experience ensuring an effortless glide through the gears. Maserati hasn’t taken its foot off the pedal however: despite the GranCabrio MC’s comfort it is perfectly complimented by the immense power of the 4.7-litre V8 engine. The 0-62mph dash takes just 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 180mph, with its distinctive engine sound as accompaniment.
Maserati isn’t skimp on safety. Maserati has added extendable roll bars to its cabriolet, which deploy to protect the occupants in the event of impact. This model also comes with the new- generation airbags and braking assistance. The GranCabrio MC has a built-in Maserati Stability Programme (MSP) that electronically optimises the car’s driving capabilities and fluidly adapts to meet the terrain demands. The MSP is effective in the most extreme conditions and incorporates sensors that consistently monitor driving status and assist with handling and grip.
The GranCabrio MC establishes a new chapter in convertible hitory. Its contemporary addition of a ‘sharknose’ grille adorned with the iconic trident ensures this cabriolet’s assertive looks, whilst the rear bumper detail from the GT coupé exudes elegance, with its sleek new airflow-enhancing design. This model transforms from elegant coupé into imposing cabriolet at the touch of a button, showcasing the inspiration drawn from the Pininfarina.
The redesigned dashboard immediately draw attention to the new Maserati double-dial clock and, as with all Maseratis, the GranCabrio MC comes with high-specification features including bespoke soft-top fabric, full leather upholstery and hand-crafted wood finishes, with the option of carbon fibre finishes.
An exhilarating drive with the soft-top up or down, the Gran Cabrio MC is a state-of-the-art luxury convertible finished with a refined style that only Maserati could produce. As if that isn’t enough it’s kitted out with the latest ground-breaking technologies. This model has five driving modes selected through the ZF transmission and controlled with a flick of your finger through the Trofeo sports paddles fixed to the steering column.
The GranCabrio MC also comes fitted with an upgraded Skyhook suspension system as standard providing a smooth, effortless transition between sport and comfort. The newly-crafted cockpit comes with the high-resolution 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus display compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay mirroring features. The GranCabrio MC also comes fitted with a Harman Kardon premium sound system as standard featuring eleven audiophile-quality speakers.
