Toyota has updated its Avensis and Auris models inside and out to stay at the head of the pack, and the enhancements follow significant investment from the firm in its UK factories.
The new Avensis arrives after three years of developments and gets a more aggressive look for the front in line with the new Aygo and Yaris. Dynamic headlamps flank the iconic Toyota badge while lower and wider bumpers add a sportier character. Inside the build quality has been enhanced with premium materials throughout, and two new trim levels are available – Business Edition and Business Edition Plus. There are two new diesel engines as well, a 110bhp 1.6-litre D-4D emitting 108g/km of CO2 and a 141bhp 2.0-litre D-4D.
For the Auris, Toyota has also revised the front and rear ends and upped the quality of the cabin. A sophisticated ‘floating’ eight-inch touchscreen has been added too for simple control of audio and navigation functions where fitted. One major highlight is the addition of a new 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol turbo that rivals Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost. The unit produces 114bhp yet returns up to 60.1mpg and releases only 109g/km.
Details on pricing are expected shortly as both vehicles will arrive at showrooms during this summer, and you can test drive either from Lancaster Toyota. Register your interest today to stay informed.
