Safety

A car with the extraordinary performance capabilities of the 570S needs to keep its power under control. Extremely powerful carbon ceramic brake discs give the coupé excellent stopping power.

Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control systems, developed by McLaren engineers working closely with their counterparts at Bosch, keeps the 570S stable whilst allowing the driver to take it to its very limits without intruding. In the event of an accident, the driver and passenger are protected by the extremely rigid structure of the carbon fibre tub, as well as front and rear anti-roll bars that deploy in a fraction of a second.

Design

The structure of the vehicle is built around its carbon fibre “tub", with a mid-mounted engine directing power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The use of light yet super-strong carbon fibre means that the 570S has a weight of just 1313kg, and a power-to-weight ratio of 428bhp per tonne – a figure unmatched by any other vehicle in its class.

As you would expect, the car is also a joy to behold, with the distinctive blade shape of the front bumper giving it a unique visual signature as well as allowing more air to be channelled under the vehicle.

In a similar melding of visual appeal and practical enhancement, the characterful flying buttresses of the C-pillar also increase downforce. An equally idiosyncratic taillight signature, “dihedral" (gull-wing) doors and 19" or 20" forged alloy wheels round off the car's exquisite looks.

The well-appointed interior, moreover, features leather-wrapped and electrically-adjustable sports seats of the highest quality, along with extensive Alcantara and carbon fibre detailing and a floating centre console. The luggage capacity of 144 litres, meanwhile is the best in the vehicle's class.

Technology

The engine endowing the 570S with its class-leading power-to-weight ratio is the manufacturer's own 3.8 litre V8 petrol engine with twin turbochargers.

Providing maximum power of 562bhp and maximum torque of 600Nm at 5,000-6,500rpm.

Even for a high-powered model such as this, the resulting performance is impressive; the 570S achieves 0-62mph acceleration in 3.2 seconds, 0-124mph in 9.5 seconds, and a top speed of 204mph.

By the standards of its contemporaries, the coupé also returns low fuel consumption and carbon emissions of 25.5mpg (combined ) and 258g/km respectively.

Three different driving modes (Normal, Sport and Track) adjust the throttle response, adaptive dampers and front and rear double-wishbone suspension to give you exactly the driving style you want.

A 7" touchscreen provides occupants with access to satellite navigation, Bluetooth, and a DAB digital radio linked to a four-speaker McLaren audio sound system.
