McLaren 675LT

Drawing inspiration from McLaren’s GTR “Longtail” racing car, the 675LT is even lighter and more driver-focused than the 650S from which it is derived.

This model has a re-engineered V8 engine and transmission, along with improved aerodynamic qualities.

Contact McLaren Ascot or London for more information.

The superb handling, capable suspension and wide track of the 675LT are accompanied by an effective (yet never intrusive) Electronic Stability Programme and extremely strong carbon ceramic brakes.

Measuring 394mm at the front and 380mm at the rear, the brake discs are attached to six-piston callipers; together with the “Longtail" airbrake and grip-heavy Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres, they enable the vehicle to stop in just 30 metres when travelling at 62mph. If an accident occurs, the driver and passenger are protected by the lightweight – yet supremely strong – carbon-fibre “MonoCell" structure.

The LT in the model's name stands for “Longtail", recalling the manufacturer's ground-breaking racing car of the late 1990s. The slender, elongated frame of the 675LT, like its world-famous ancestor, boasts an 80% increase in downforce compared to its 650S sibling, helped by an additional front splitter.

The McLaren team's painstaking efforts to reduce weight include the use of carbon fibre for the bumpers, rear fenders and rear deck; with great care, they have managed to reduce the dry weight of the 675LT to just 1230kg – which makes it 100kg lighter than the 650S and the lightest vehicle in its class.

Despite its stripped-down character, the 675LT offers interior comfort as well as thrills.

Alcantara upholstery and bolstered bucket seats is offered in five different colour schemes.

Meanwhile the distinctive rear of the vehicle, with its centrally positioned titanium exhaust pipes, raised haunches and rear spoiler, complement the visual impact of its purposeful front profile and vast side air intakes.

As befits a car with such a devilish turn of pace, the 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine of the 675LT boasts maximum power of 666bhp – together with 700Nm of torque.

This gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 541bhp a tonne – and the result is phenomenal acceleration and speed to electrify even the most seasoned track-day drivers.

The 675LT reaches 62mph from a standing start in 2.9 seconds, achieves 124mph in 7.9 seconds, and is capable of a top speed of 205mph.

The engine is linked to a finely tuned seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which ensures upshifts of unsurpassed speed and efficiency.

In the interests of reducing the weight of the 675LT, many typical amenities have been left out.

However, features such as air conditioning (controlled through the IRIS infotainment touchscreen), a rear parking camera, and a Meridian Surround Sound system are available as options, together with McLaren's sophisticated Track Telemetry system.
