Pista is Italian
for track, a fitting name for a supercar designed to excel on the road. With
the sole objective of delivering extreme track-like performance on the road for
the ‘normal’ driver and with significantly less weight and impressive
aerodynamics, Ferrari have definitely accomplished what they set out to
introduction of the innovative Sideslip Angle Control System, now on its sixth
generation allows accurate handling of the car even for those who aren’t professional
Utilising Ferrari’s experience in motor-sports, specifically the FIA World Endurance Championship in which Ferrari were hugely successful, Ferrari have produced a car that epitomises performance.
The Ferrari 488 Pista can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.85secs, an impressive feat that rivals the LaFerrari. Powered by the mighty 3.9-litre twin-turbo engine which is capable of producing 711bhp at 8000rpm, it is the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history, boasting an extra 50 horsepower. All this enables the 488 Pista to achieve an imposing top speed of 211mph, a remarkable achievement.
Additionally, the introduction of the worlds first Ferrari Dynamic Enhancers utilises original Ferrari software which modifies the brake pressure at the calipers, leading to effective cornering, even at high speeds. The performance is echoed through the iconic voice of the Ferrari which boasts a greater sound quality than the 488 GTB and is unsurprisingly louder than the regular car.
Emotion and integrity, tradition and innovation. Ferrari’s core values are prominent throughout the 488 design and reflects everything that Ferrari is.
Firstly, the 488 is significantly lighter than the 488 GTB, weighing a mighty 90 kg less than the 488 GTB, giving the Ferrari a special floating feel as it effortlessly glides across the surface of the road.
With special focus on maximising the cars aerodynamics, Ferrari have adopted the ingenious F1-inspired S-Duct as well as redesigning the front and rear diffusers from the 488 GTE. Furthermore, the air intake line has changed from the flanks to the rear spoiler to enhance airflow. All of this is designed to push air around and over the car at extreme speeds and resulted in a notable 20% more downforce than the GTB.
The Ferrari 488 Pista comes with the choice of stripes and is the first Ferrari to offer optional 20 inch carbon wheels and to top it off the cockpit has been stripped back to obtain that true racing experience.
