MINI handling, seating for five and 306hp

The first-ever ‘Mini Cooper’ made its debut in 1961 with just 55bhp from its 997cc engine. Today, the John Cooper Works Mini Clubman has twice the engine capacity and almost six times the power, making it the most powerful roadgoing MINI ever produced. Fortunately, it also has the chassis, brakes and all-wheel drive traction to turn that power into fast, safe and rewarding drives.

Design

The latest MINI Clubman has spacious seating for five and twin hinged ‘barn door’ style rear doors in homage to MINI design tradition. Unique JCW features include large air inlets designed to serve the cooling requirements of both the drive and the brake system. A roof spoiler helps to reduce uplift at high speeds and JCW Clubman is equipped with aerodynamically optimised mirror caps. A red contrast finish is optional for the mirror caps and roof, while the interior features John Cooper Works sports seats, a John Cooper Works sports steering wheel and anthracite headliner. 18-inch John Cooper Works light metal wheels in Black Grip Spoke design are standard with the option of larger 19-inch Circuit Spoke wheels.

Performance

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder Twin-Power Turbo engine in the JCW Clubman produces 306hp and 450Nm of torque, giving 0-62mph acceleration in just 4.9 seconds with a governed top speed of 155mph. Combined WLTP economy figures are from 32.8-42.2mpg. An eight-speed Steptronic transmission with integrated diff lock and MINI ALL4 all-wheel drive system effortlessly put the power down on the road. Meanwhile, a new sports exhaust adds aural excitement and JCW brake system with larger discs and optimised cooling ducts provides fade-free stopping power. The front and rear suspension has been stiffened and uprated too, and an adaptive chassis with electronically controlled dampers is available as an option.

Technology and equipment

The John Cooper Works Clubman comes with a comprehensive standard specification including LED headlights, MINI Driving Modes, Navigation Pack, 6.5-inch display with touchscreen function and Real Time Traffic Information (RRTI). Also standard is the Comfort Plus pack which includes front and rear Park Distance Control (PDC) with Park Assist, a rear-view camera, seat heating and folding mirrors.

Safety

Like all MINI models, the Clubman has multiple airbags for accident protection and Dynamic Stability and Traction Control to help you avoid an accident in the first place. Other safety technology includes Pedestrian Warning and Collision Mitigation, which scan the streets and apply the brakes if they detect trouble ahead. An integral 4G SIM card enables Intelligent Emergency Call with automatic detection of the vehicle location and accident severity.

Key Features include;

Power on demand

The exhilarating power of the JCW MINI Clubman responds to the merest touch of the throttle, delivering 405Nm of torque in a broad range of engine speeds from 1,750-4,500rpm. To keep the engine at the optimum running temperature (even on track), John Cooper Works has developed an advanced, high efficiency cooling system.

Head-up display

The optional, retractable multi-colour MINI Head-Up Display projects all you need to know, including speed, navigation instructions, available radio stations and warnings, onto a screen behind the steering wheel. You can adjust what’s displayed as well as the HUD unit’s height, rotation and brightness. John Cooper Works models also have an optional sports Head-Up display and content.

Navigation Plus Pack

The MINI John Cooper Works Clubman comes as standard with a 6.5” touch display and the Navigation Pack, but the optional Navigation Plus pack includes a larger 8.8" touch display, with wireless charging for your phone, MINI Connected Services and the Concierge Service.

6-door versatility

The Clubman is no ordinary hatchback – it’s a six door, thanks to the unique MINI twin rear doors that provide access to generous luggage space. Capacity is up to 1,250 litres with the seats down and 360 litres with them up.

Selectable Drive Modes

Choose the mode to suit your mood, the road and the conditions via a centre toggle switch. Modes include Sport for performance, Mid for the perfect compromise and Green for eco-efficiency.

8-speed transmission with auto diff lock

The latest generation technology of the 8-Speed Steptronic gearbox is engineered for lower internal friction, liberating more power for you to enjoy. Shift paddles on the steering column offer instant manual gear selection and a limited slip differential enhances traction and agility.

A complete specification

Among the many standard features, the MINI John Cooper Works Clubman features LED headlights, MINI Driving Modes, Navigation Pack with Real Time Traffic Information (RRTI), a 6.5 inch touchscreen and a redesigned graphic display.

Audio heaven

Audiophiles will love the clarity and power of the 360-Watt Harman Kardon hi-fi loudspeaker system. It features two central bass speakers beneath the front seat, along with 12 further high-performance speakers for powerful bass, natural-sounding mid-tones and sharp, crystal-clear treble.

Driving Assistant Pack

Another option, the Driving Assistant Pack, can recognise and report speed limits and no overtaking zones. The pedestrian and approach control warning scans for potential collisions, first warning and then automatically braking if a potential collision is detected between 6mph and 37mph. Above 37mph it warns of a potential collision and preconditions the brakes for shorter stopping.
