Biggest MINI gets the full 306hp treatment.
What do you get when you cross MINI’s version of a compact SUV with a full 306 horsepower John Cooper Works powertrain? In a word, fun. The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman is one of just two models to feature the hottest of all JCW engines, with a host of chassis and brake upgrades.
The Countryman is designed to compete with other compact crossover SUVs, so it’s a size up from the MINI three-door hatch and even the six-door Clubman. Remarkably, the MINI design team has managed to retain all the signature MINI design cues in a bigger, taller package, with the same wheel-at-each corner stance that promises eager handling. The unique JCW package includes a honeycomb pattern grille outlined in red, JCW aerodynamic kit including a roof spoiler, 18" John Cooper Works Grip Spoke alloy wheels in black, red brake callipers with the JCW logo and LED headlights with cornering lights.
The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine in the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman develops a thumping 306 metric horsepower, an increase of 75 hp over the previous version, and can sprint from zero to 62mph in just 5.1 seconds. Transmission is an 8-speed Steptronic sports gearbox. Sports suspension, a performance braking system and a John Cooper Works sport exhaust complete the package.
The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman comes with the MINI Navigation System, Real Time Traffic Information, MINI Connected, Apple CarPlay preparation, BMW Online Services and BMW Emergency Call as standard. The Comfort Plus pack is also included and features front and rear Park Distance Control (PDC) with Park Assist, a rear-view camera, seat heating and folding mirrors. The optional Navigation Plus pack includes a larger, 8.8-inch screen, complete with the Connected Navigation Plus feature and automatic map updates.
The JCW Countryman is equipped with eight airbags – two in front, two at the side and four head airbags. In the event of a crash the sensor will deploy airbags, activate the warning flashers and interior lights, unlock the doors and cut the fuel.Other safety technology includes Pedestrian Warning and Collision Mitigation, which scan the streets and apply the brakes if they detect trouble ahead. An integral 4G SIM card enables Intelligent Emergency Call, providing automatic detection of the vehicle location and accident severity.
Power with control
With a power output of 306hp and maximum torque of 405Nm, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman has sensational performance, hitting the 0-62mph benchmark in just 5.1 seconds. An eight-speed Steptronic transmission ensures that it simply grips and takes off without wheelspin.
You can choose the optional 19” Works Circuit wheels, red roof and mirror caps to enhance the sports-focused look of your MINI JCW Countryman. Even as standard the lowered stance, 18” black alloy wheels, roof spoiler and red grille outline trim is guaranteed to turn heads.
The optional Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi features two bass speakers beneath the front seats and an additional 12 speakers throughout the cabin for unprecedented clarity and power, whether your tastes run to club, techno or classics.
Heads up for information
The optional Head Up Display offers all the information you need right in your line of sight via a retractable colour display. You can select what you want to see, from navigation to speed and even radio stations.
Your MINI JCW Countryman has a very inviting interior ambience, including John Cooper Works sport seats upholstered in Dinamica and leather in Carbon Black, and a leather multifunction sports steering wheel. Other interior highlights include John Cooper Works Piano Black interior trim and anthracite headlining.
Optional Driving Assistance Pack
For even greater peace of mind, the Driving Assistance option recognises and reports speed limits and no overtaking zones. At speeds between 6 and 37 mph it warns of approaching vehicles or pedestrians and automatically brakes if it detects a potential collision. Above that speed it will still warn and precondition the brakes. Active Cruise Control is another feature of the pack.
Remote Services, part of the Navigation Plus pack, allows you to locate your MINI John Cooper Works Countryman when it’s parked, lock and unlock the doors remotely and even transfer navigation destinations from your smartphone to the vehicle.
The Comfort Plus pack comes as standard with the John Cooper Works Countryman and features a rear-view camera, Parking Assistant and front park distance control as well as folding and auto-dimming mirrors.
For Active Lifestyles
Like every Countryman, the John Cooper Works version has the space and the get-up-and-go for outdoor adventures. The optional Activity Pack comprises an automatic tailgate, rear sliding seats, picnic bench and a larger fuel tank. A luggage compartment retention net is also included.
Space for all
There’s ample room inside the Countryman for five with 450 litres of luggage space behind the rear seats. Fold them down and there’s a full 1,390 litres of load space for sports kit or bulky items.
