A MINI Clubman concept with real traction

MINI Italy has been beavering away yet again to create a brand new all-wheel drive concept – and it offers a completely new angle to MINI motoring. To commemorate 50 years of the MINI brand in their country, MINI Italy has come up with something special – it’s the MINI Clubman ALL4 Scrambler.

Inspired by the BMW R NINET scrambler motorcycle, this chunky-tyred MINI was recently revealed at the Valentino Park Motor Show in Turin. Adorned in matte Frozen Grey paint with a black roof, with raised suspension and aggressive knobbly tyres, this mighty MINI features many aspects seen on its two-wheeled compatriot, blending its characteristics into a compact wagon.

The BMW scrambler bike’s circular headlight has been doubled up on the MINI, recalling the look of classic rally-winning Minis of the ‘60s, and a luggage rack with wooden bars pays homage to the Mini Traveller of the ‘70s. To complete the Clubman ALL4 Scrambler’s look, matte black applique on the bumpers, side sills and wheel arches offer protection and an aggressive look, and silver detailing around the grille, windows and door handles adds a touch of class.

Climb inside to discover the height of MINI luxury, with Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery, a leather luggage mat and numerous Scrambler badges and logos.

Performance figures haven’t been released, and MINI UK has said that there are no plans to put the Clubman ALL4 Scrambler into production, designed as an Italy-only show car. Maybe the ALL4 all-wheel drive variant of the next MINI Countryman – the standard version of which is already in the pipeline – will satisfy our need for a rugged MINI off-roader.
