Insurance again depends on the make and model. Some models with more powerful engines will fall into a higher insurance group however, the smart fortwo for example falls into a lower insurance group making it cheaper to insure. You can browse our stock online or visit your nearest dealership to find the smart car that's right for you.
The only exception to driving you car after your MOT has expired is if you have your test booked and are driving to the MOT centre. An MOT must be renewed before it expires.
There is no set charge as such if your vehicle fails its MOT. If you current MOT is still valid or no 'dangerous' problems were listed in your MOT results then you can still drive your vehicle away as long as it meets the minimum standards of roadworthiness as stated on the Gov.uk website. If this isn't the case however, you will need to get your vehicle repaired before you can drive it or you could be fined up to £2,500 for driving a vehicle with a failed MOT due to a 'dangerous' problem.
