Carrera 4S

DESIGN

The 911 Carrera 4S is available in coupe and convertible forms, and in both the unmistakeable shape of the Carrera is maintained – including that iconic flyline and the elegant rooflines that have characterised the sportscar since 1963. This heritage is balanced with modern style updates, with the likes of 20/21” Carrera S wheels, retractable door handles, and ‘Porsche’ lettering integrated in the taillight strip. Stepping into the Carrera 4S feels like entering into a rich and luxurious world, with plush trim and a fair share of creature comforts. Yet it still remains simple and functional, so you can stay completely focused on the exceptional experience that is driving a 911.

PERFORMANCE

Handling is even more precise and, with a playful personality, it’s easy to fully immerse yourself in the fun that is driving the Carrera 4S. A significant 444bhp is emitted from the updated 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six rear engine, which is enough to launch the Carrera to 62mph from a standstill in as little as 3.6 seconds. It has a top speed of 190mph with power transmitted through an 8-speed PDK gearbox. The ‘4’ in its name alludes the car’s four-wheel-drive and Porsche Traction Management provides enhanced driving dynamics for an even sportier experience. Meanwhile, PASM makes the ride more supple and handling more responsive. Otherwise, you can opt for lowered sport suspension which drops the ride height by 10mm. Other optional features include a sport exhaust and rear-axle steering.

TECHNOLOGY

All the tech in the 911 Carrera 4S aims to make it an even better sportscar and even easier to interact with. Similar to its design, Porsche has held onto the things we know and love about its motorsport genes whilst bringing it into the modern day, meaning there’s a combination of analogue-digital features. That means that, whilst the instrumentation is almost entirely digital with two 7” displays, you’re still given a central rev counter (because, well, it wouldn’t be a Porsche 911 without one). The central 10.9” touchscreen is used for the Porsche Communication Management system, but it also comes with some toggle switches alongside voice control ability. If you add on the Sport Chrono package, you’ll receive a mode switch to choose between different driving modes quickly and easily, as well as Launch Control.

SAFETY

When it comes to shedding speed, the 4S is equipped with aluminium fixed monobloc brake calipers – 6-piston at the front and 4-piston at the rear – as well as 350mm brake discs. If that’s not enough, you can also add on carbon-ceramic brakes for increased stopping power. No matter the weather, Porsche Stability Management (PSM) improves traction using the antilock braking system with extended brake functions, acting as a safety blanket when looking to push the car’s performance limits. The Carrera 4S also comes equipped with standard safety systems like Warn and Brake Assist, ParkAssist front and rear, and cruise control.
