Giving the Targa it’s statement character, the aluminium roll-over bar features the original Targa logo – but it’s not all style over substance. The electric roof closes in just 19 seconds and, when closed, the sound insulating roof lining ensures a smooth and quiet ride. There’s a harmony of tradition and modernity with the LED headlights and unmistakable flyline reminiscent of the early 911 generations, juxtaposing with the rear LED light strip and slick retractable door handles. PERFORMANCE
Equipped with the S badge, this particular model combines all-wheel drive and potent performance. The 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six rear engine produces a huge 444bhp and 530Nm of torque, which translates to a 0 – 62mph time of just 3.8 seconds and a blistering top speed of 189mph. The Targa 4S is equipped with an 8-speed PDK transmission with Porsche Traction Management or a seven-speed manual gearbox at an extra cost. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus improves dynamics and stability, whilst Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is equipped as standard – although you can also opt for PASM sports suspension, which lowers the body by 10mm.
TECHNOLOGY
The Targa 4S maintains its authentic sportscar feel whilst offering a suite of tech, making every day driving a breeze without taking away from the pure enjoyment that comes with driving a Porsche 911. Making up the instrument cluster are two 7” TFT displays and the central rev counter, whilst functions such as real time navigation from the latest Porsche Communication Management system are displayed on a touchscreen in the centre of the dash. Porsche has purposefully held onto a number of analogue buttons to give the driver direct access to essential drive and chassis functions – and reduced view can be selected for the display of strictly driving-related content. If you’re pushing the car’s limit on the track, you can measure lap times and driving data on your smartphone via the Porsche Track Precision App.
SAFETY
No matter the weather, Porsche Stability Management (PSM) improves traction using the antilock braking system with extended brake functions. Stability and comfort are improved even further with the larger wheels at the rear, and Porsche ensures the Targa roll-over bar meets the highest safety requirements. As well as an array of safety features, the sportscar also offers multiple driver assistance systems for every day driving and longer journeys, such as warn and brake assist, ParkAssist with a reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist.
