The purpose of this vehicle is to be your workhorse; you need it to be reliable, practical and versatile enough for it to perform in the way you need it to. With this in mind, you won’t be disappointed with the Proace Electric. Despite the presence of a battery, the electric, medium-sized van has a one tonne payload when you opt for the 75kWh battery model and a slightly increased 1.266 tonne payload when you go for the 50kWh battery. It also boasts a one tonne towing capacity with up to 50% payload inside the van.
There’s a low-loading floor for easy access, as well as two wide-opening sliding doors either side, and the versatile front seats allow for three people to sit together comfortably. In terms of the exterior, the Proace Electric comes with 16” steel wheels as standard, as well as a range of black styling on the door handles, and front and rear bumpers. There’s also four body colours to choose from: Vivid White, Black Opal, Silver Shadow or Falcon Grey.
There’s more than enough tech to satisfy in the Proace Electric, including the 7” Pro Touch display which comes as standard with smartphone integration, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can stay connected on the move. In addition to this, the power meter shows ‘on-the-move’ information such as electric consumption and battery capacity, whilst the 3.5” driver information display shows the likes of journey information, charging status and remaining range.
Automatic High Beam, Adjustable Speed Limiter and Brake Assist are just a few of the intelligent safety features present in the Proace Electric. It also comes with handy cruise control and rear parking sensors to help when manoeuvring into tricky spaces.
The Proace Electric houses an all-electric powertrain consisting of a 134bhp motor to drive the front wheels, and a choice of two batteries: the 50kWh battery provides a range of 142 miles, and the 75kWh battery produces 205 miles. This means you can drive with confidence knowing you’re producing zero emissions when travelling from job to job, as no CO2 emissions or NOx gasses leave the tailpipe when driving.
You have a choice of driving modes to choose from - including Power, Normal and Eco - each of which impacts performance and efficiency to suit your needs. In terms of charging the battery, you can plug in overnight at home using a wallbox or use a public fast charger to get to full in as little as 48 minutes (depending on the battery).
The Proace Electric is the perfect electric workhorse. It has the same load-carrying capabilities of the diesel models but with all-electric technology, which come together to create a practical and versatile van that’s enjoyable to drive. If range and charging aren’t an issue for you, then the Proace Electric is a no-brainer for cheaper running costs and an eco-friendly option to combustion engine equivalents.
