CEO Statement

Dear Customers,

First and foremost, I hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. I appreciate that we are all navigating these current uncharted times together with a level of uncertainty on how this epidemic will unfold. I therefore wanted to highlight the measures we are taking at Jardine Motors to make sure our customers, our colleagues and our suppliers remain safe whilst in our care.

Since the Government ordered non-essential retail businesses to close as part of its national lockdown measures, the majority of our dealerships have been closed. We did keep a small number of workshops open to support keyworkers and carers with essential maintenance and repair work, as well as our emergency services’ customers.

Following the Government’s update on 25th May regarding businesses re-opening, we are now able to start to re-open our dealerships for sales and aftersales. However, our focus and priority is to ensure this is done safely and correctly with the health and wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and suppliers front-of-mind. Therefore, we will be operating on an appointment-only basis for customers to visit our teams to ensure we manage the number of people on site and adhere to social distancing measures.

Before we open our dealerships, we are ensuring they have followed a thorough re-opening process and complied with all aspects of our policy document (download here), which includes all of the required safeguarding measures as set out in the Government’s ‘Secure’ strategy, as well as additional guidance from Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive. In addition, each dealership completes a risk assessment aligned with our Group risk assessment, which can be downloaded here and covers the significant hazards related to the re-opening of dealerships and offices, as part of our response to the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of our Jardine Motors safeguarding strategy, the first step has been to put in place social distancing measures, which have included re-configuring the layout of our sites and asking customers to use alternative entrances and exits. We have enhanced hygiene measures for customers, colleagues and all visitors and included the widespread introduction of personal protective equipment to ensure everyone’s safety. I appreciate that every business regardless of industry will have different ways of working and it can become slightly confusing, so please do not hesitate to ask one of the team on site about where to go or what to do when you arrive.

All colleagues have undertaken thorough training via our online learning platform, prior to returning to work, so they fully understand how to follow our new measures and guidelines to keep themselves and our customers safe.

To support social distancing measures, we are limiting the number of customers and colleagues in our dealerships at any one time, therefore, visiting our service department is strictly by appointment only and we ask that customers drop off their car and return later to collect it, as our waiting area facilities are temporarily closed.

There is little doubt we’ve all experienced challenges throughout the pandemic, and while the risk of COVID-19 remains, we ask that customers remain patient as we adjust to the new ways of working, and safely restart our business operations.
