TECHNOLOGY

As with all the latest generation Mercedes-Benz models, the CLS Coupé features the acclaimed MBUX infotainment system, which is controlled either via ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice command or the touchpad. Two 12.3” digital screens come as standard in the coupé, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, meanwhile a head-up display and wireless charging are optional extras. MBUX Interior Assist also allows you to control the infotainment system via different hand movements. As well as this, the MBUX system uses AI to anticipate your needs. For example, if you regularly call a specific person on Tuesdays when driving home from work, you’ll receive their phone number as a suggestion in the display on this day of the week. Another cool feature is energising comfort control, which uses sound, lighting and seat massage modes to improve your wellbeing so you can relax on longer journeys.

FEATURES

CLS Coupé buyers are offered a choice of petrol and diesel engines and, for 2021, Mercedes-Benz has introduced mild hybrid powertrains for increased efficiency and performance. All models come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive for maximum agility and dynamic handling, even on challenging surfaces. For diesels, there’s the 300 d, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 248bhp and 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds. The 300d powertrain features mild hybrid technology for an electric ‘boost’ of 20bhp, and efficiency is increased with energy recovery and the option to ‘glide’ with the engine switched off. There’s also the 400 d, which produces 340hp and makes the 0-62mph sprint in 5.0 seconds. Moving onto petrol engines, the 350 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 295bhp. Meanwhile, the 450 is a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 362bhp, also featuring a mild hybrid system for a performance boost and added efficiency. With the CLS Coupé 450, you can expect to do 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds.
