This was usurped last year as the world’s fastest Mercedes by the all-new Mercedes-AMG One. Inspired by recent successes in Formula One, this brute of a machine is Mercedes’ fastest-ever road-legal car – clocking 219mph and 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds.
The car is also the fastest-ever production car around the German racetrack,the Nürburgring, setting a blistering time of 6 minutes 35 seconds. This was over seven seconds faster than the previousholder the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
The AMG One delivers an impressive 1,063 horsepower from its 1.6-litre V6 turbo petrol engine. With four electric motors within its turbochargers, it’s one of the premium-class, E-performance vehicles on the market and a fine example of the limits of plug-in hybrid technology.
