Space is now often considered to be the ultimate luxury and compared to its predecessor the new A8 has grown substantially in length in both body styles, with the A8 L surpassing the standard version in length and wheelbase by 13 centimetres. Featuring a wide upright single frame grille and a muscular yet sophisticated body which emphasizes a sporty elegance and sophistication. The wheel arches showcase the A8s quattro drive, while striking HD Matrix LED headlights, available as standard on the S line trim, and an LED light strip combined with OLED technology rear lights, mean this flagship model owns the road day and night, producing unique light animations as the driver approaches and leaves the car.

Relax in a lavish, spacious lounge, with every detail radiating unmatched bespoke quality – from the luxurious comfort front seats in valcona leather, to the new comfort head restraints. The choice to upgrade equipment packages will allow for your rear passengers to control an array of functions such as ambient lighting, the new HD Matrix reading lights and seat massage, and they can even make private phone calls via a separate operating unit. The rear seat remote control, with its smartphone-size OLED display, is a detachable unit contained in the centre armrest. The classiest seat is in the rear, with an optional relaxation seat in the A8 L that comes with adjustment options, a foot rest and a function where the passenger can even warm and massage the soles of their feet.

Performance & Technology

The A8 is available in two engines; a 50 TDI and a 55 TFSI. The diesel develops 286PS, and the petrol version 340PS. With quattro permanent all-wheel drive as standard and power that is transferred via an 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox, you will be guaranteed fast and smooth gear shifts, plus with mild hybrid technology, the car can coast with the engine switched off. Fully loaded with impressive technology, the A8 sets the benchmark in being technically advanced. The cabin hosts a 10.1-inch colour touchscreen display, which blends into the high-gloss black instrumental panel. With the new MMI touch response, MMI navigation and the Audi virtual cockpit as standard, everything is at your fingertips. Adaptive cruise assist maintains a preset distance to the car in front, by doing the accelerating and braking for you, while the head up display projects important information on to your windscreen so you’re always alert while on the move.

The A8 comes with a host of driver assistance systems aimed to help keep you safe on the road. Audi pre-sense front and basic come as standard at entry level, to help detect potential collisions. Driver and passengers will experience tightening of seatbelts and automatic closure of windows and sunroof in the event of a potential collision. The Audi Parking System plus, aims to detect any obstacles outside and within the driving path via acoustic and visual alerts. Upgrade to the Vorsprung trim where Audi side assist will aid the driver when changing lanes. The system monitors the area behind the vehicle and informs the driver if there is a vehicle in their blind spot. The driver assistance varies across each trim level, but the entry level Sport model is impressive from the off.
