The RS e-tron GT is a low, sleek and handsome four-door coupe that combines traditional Audi design themes, such as singleframe grille and quattro wheel arch blisters, with a new EV aesthetic. The sides are lean and sculpted, with deep concave scoops along the doors that suggest the lean musculature of an athlete. The 0.24cd low-drag profile is beautifully proportioned as well as aerodynamically efficient. Specific RS design features include the Black styling pack, illuminated RS door sills, 21" 10-spoke trapezoidal alloy wheels in platinum grey and Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light. Despite its tapering roofline, the RS e-tron GT easily allows for five occupants and the boot offers up to 350-litres of space. Up front, the sports seats pro come in fine Nappa leather with honeycomb pattern stitching and there’s a multifunction leather sports steering wheel.
Features
The RS e-tron GT’s battery is mounted in the platform for a low centre of gravity and agile handling. Electric motors front and rear develop maximum power of 590bhp and 830Nm of torque (with 636bhp available in brief bursts in overboost mode). The 0-62mph sprint takes just 3.3 seconds and it has a top speed of 155mph. Performance features unique to the RS model include tungsten-carbide coated brake discs, ten-piston fixed brake callipers, adaptive air suspension, a more sophisticated rear differential and four-wheel steering. Maximum range is 283 miles on a single charge; the RS e-tron supports fast DC charging and with a 270kW charger the battery can go from flat to 80% capacity in just 23 minutes.
Performance & Technology
The interior of the RS e-tron GT orients major controls towards the driver, who can select between classic, sport and e-tron modes on the 12.3” Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus instrumentation. A central ‘floating’ 10.1” touchscreen operates the Audi MMI infotainment system. Commands can be input from the multifunction steering wheel, via the touchscreen or by using any ‘natural language’ voice commands. Bang & Olufsen’s 3D Premium Sound System comes as standard (it’s an option on the e-tron GT). Another standard feature is a unique acoustic signature, which substitutes the traditional combustion engine’s exhaust note for a pulsating sci-fi sound effect, controllable from the drive select system.
Safety
Standard Pre-sense technology works to detect collision hazards whilst the reversing camera helps you to manoeuvre into tight spaces. Adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and remote parking pilot are also available. HD LED headlights with Audi laser light provide precise and higher-resolution illumination whilst reducing the risk of dazzling other road users.
