Audi A5 Sportback

Audi A5 Coupé on the cards

The A5 was introduced to the Audi line-up back in 2007, making it one of the oldest models in the range. The renewed, revitalised edition A5 Coupé will go on sale in 2017, a decade after its first release.

The new model will be agile and comfortable, thanks to 100kg weight saving and the use of the five-link suspension setup seen in the new A4, able to tackle winding roads easily and cruise on the motorway effortlessly.

Appreciate the A5’s understated, clean bodywork lines, brought to life by the addition of the state-of-the-art slim headlights, as seen on the fresh A4.

Utilising an extended wheelbase, find added cabin capacity for more spacious seating and a more open atmosphere, and of course, added practicality. In the cabin, the A5 will offer the pioneering Audi virtual cockpit.

Under the bonnet of the new A5, there’s rumoured to be V6 engines at the top of the range, as well as the cutting-edge turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines, as seen in the A4, plus 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesel options.

With a performance RS 5, complete with a twin-turbocharged V6 producing around 500bhp, as well as Cabriolet and Sportback A5 editions to follow, will we also see a plug-in hybrid added to the range? We shall have to wait and see, but the Coupé will assuredly build ample anticipation before the arrival of the complete range.
