Audi R8 LMS hits huge production landmark

The Audi Sport customer racing team has hit a major landmark with the production of the 200thAudi R8 LMS.

The iconic German brand has been involved in international GT3 racing since 2009, developing recognition and networks internationally and offering many services and technologies. The Audi R8 range is also available from Jardine Motors Audi, ready for you to experience your very own motorsport dream.

A line-up of the 200 R8 LMS cars made so far would reach over 900m, and the cars have been delivered around the globe. Stephen Winkelmann, Managing Director of Quattro GmbH said: ‘We’re proud of this mark of 200 cars. With more than ten manufacturers offering their products, including many premium sports car brands, the GT3 market is fiercely competitive.’

Both generations of the car combine to have won 28 overall championship titles, nine overall victories in 24-hour races, plus 34 class titles, four successes in 12-hour competitions.

Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing, said: ‘When our new model was launched last year, many teams opted for the Audi R8 LMS – and inquiries from many parts of the world continue to be received in large numbers. Our teams and drivers have been battling for victories and championship titles around the globe ever since the new race car’s first full season. ‘

The 200th Audi R8 LMS will go to Team ‘Montaplast by Land-Motorsport’. The squad, owned by Wolfgang Land, is leading the ADAC GT Masters after six single events. With such a bright future, this landmark is only the first of many to come for the Audi R8 LMS as it continues to be developed by the brand with the four rings.
