Meet the new Audi A5 Sportback
The past few years have seen Audi release a string of increasingly popular cars, from the capable Q5 crossover to the sleek R8 supercar. And now they’ve done it again with the Audi A5 Sportback, shown in public for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.
Offering both the next-generation A5 and a high-powered S5 variant, Audi’s newest models will be able to bridge the gap for those that aspire to own the refined and powerful A7 Sportback, without the costly price tag. The design is based on the new A4 Sedan, offering a stylish rear hatch design that gives just a hint of the immense power beneath the bonnet.
The new A5 Sportback will be powered by a 2.0-litre, 252hp, turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine, which will increase to a 350hp, turbocharged V6 engine in the S5 Sportback. The S5 will be able to reach an impressive 155mph, and accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds, according to Audi.
Of course, Audi’s new Virtual Cockpit won’t be left out of the wealth of tech going into the vehicles, which also includes a host of semi-autonomous safety features. The car is expected to be released at the start of 2017 and will be available right here at Jardine Motors Audi, but until then, we will just have to enjoy the pictures from Paris.
